Commission Vacancies

VACANCY NOTICE

The City of Santa Paula is asking all interested individuals to apply for positions on several boards, commissions, and committees. Applicants must be residents of the City of Santa Paula. Applications are at the City Clerk’s Office located in City Hall at 970 Ventura Street. Measure T Oversight Committee: There is currently two vacancies on the Measure T Oversight Committee, for a term of four years. One vacancy opening is for a senior citizen member located in the City of Santa Paula and the other vacancy opening is for a member active in a youth organization located in the City of Santa Paula. On November 8, 2016, Santa Paula voters enacted the Santa Paula Local One-Cent Sales Tax (“Measure T”). Measure T required the City to establish an oversight committee to make recommendations to the City Council on the expenditures of revenues generated by the sales tax measure and inform the public and the City Council to ensure that such revenue is expended in accordance with the intention of the voters and State Law. These Guidelines are intended to implement the oversight provisions of Measure T. Committee members must be a U.S. Citizen, 18 years of age, a resident of the City, and not a public employee. The Committee shall be composed of members from the following organizations: One member active in a business organization representing the business community located in the City of Santa Paula; One senior citizen member located in the City of Santa Paula; One member active in a civic organization located in the City of Santa Paula; One member active in a youth organization located in the City of Santa Paula; and One resident at-large. This Committee is subject to the annual statement of financial disclosure in compliance with the Political Reform Act, Government Code § 81000 et seq.

Design Assistance/Historic Preservation Committee: There is currently four vacancies as a City Resident Committee Member, for a term of four years. The Design Assistance Committee meets on-call and acts as an advisory body to the Historic Preservation Commission. The Committee consists of five members appointed by the City Council who have the following qualifications: 1) Two City Resident Members; 2) Once Member from the Santa Paula Planning Commission; 3) One Member who shall have been a candidate nominated by the Santa Paula Historical Society; and 4) One Member who by reason of training and experience is knowledgeable in the field of construction and structural rehabilitation (such as a licensed architect, engineer, contractor, or urban planner).

Santa Paula Housing Authority: There is currently four vacancies as board member. The purpose of the Santa Paula Housing Authority is to carry out all necessary business pursuant to the Housing Authority Law. The Housing Authority board members are appointed by the City Council. Members serve a four-year term and must remain a resident of the City of Santa Paula. All board members fall under the jurisdiction of Federal and State guidelines, and the Executive Director of the Housing Authority serves as staff. The board meets the second Thursday of each month at the Housing Authority offices in Santa Paula. This Committee is subject to the annual statement of financial disclosure in compliance with the Political Reform Act, Government Code § 81000 et seq.

Parks & Recreation Commission: There is currently two vacancies on the Parks & Recreation Commission for a three-year term. The Parks & Recreation Commission meets the 4th Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Santa Paula City Hall Council Chambers.

Planning Commission: There is currently one vacancy on the Planning Commission for a four-year term. The Planning Commission meets the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Santa Paula City Hall Council Chambers. The Commission receives applications for discretionary projects, such as Planned Development permits, Conditional Use Permits and variances, and conducts public hearings on land use related matters. Commissioners are subject to the annual statement of financial disclosure in compliance with the Political Reform Act, Government Code § 81000 et seq.

Mobile Home Rent Review Commission: There is currently one vacancy on the Mobile Home Rent Review Commission for a two-year term. The Mobile Home Rent Review Commission meets on an on-call basis to consider mobile home rent increase applications. Commissioners are subject to the annual statement of financial disclosure in compliance with the Political Reform Act, Government Code § 81000 et seq.
